Im Zuge der Veröffentlichung ihres neuen Romans, tauchte Daisy Jones & The Six von Taylor Jenkins Reid vermehrt in meinem Instagram-Feed auf. Es ist ein Buch, das mich anhand des Covers niemals angesprochen hätte und auch der Klappentext fällt nicht in mein typisches „Beuteschema“: Ein Buch über eine Band, über die 70er Jahre in den USA. Doch die begeisterten Stimmen machten mich mal wieder neugierig und so kaufte ich mir das Buch kurz vor meinem Urlaub und war schon auf der Fahrt in die Berge Feuer und Flamme für diese außergewöhnliche Geschichte.

Daisy Jones & The Six erzählt nicht nur eine außergewöhnliche Geschichte. Das Buch ist auch außergewöhnlich erzählt. Grob gesagt geht es um die Sängerin und Songwriterin Daisy Jones, die versucht, ihren Weg in die Musikszene zu finden. Gleichzeitig geht es um die aufstrebende Band The Six. Wie Daisy und die Band zusammenfinden ist ein wilder Ritt und alles, was danach passiert, auch. Besonders daran ist, dass die Geschichte in Interviewform erzählt wird – so hat jede Figur eine Stimme, eine bestimmte Sichtweise auf die Geschehnisse, die die anderen nicht unbedingt teilen. Taylor Jenkins Reid hat es meisterhaft hinbekommen, Kino im Kopf zu erzeugen und ihre Figuren wahnsinnig authentisch wirken zu lassen. Ich bin selten so tief in einer Geschichte drin, so intensiv involviert in die Handlung, so an ein Buch gefesselt. Die besondere Stimmung der 70er Jahre, sex, drugs & rock’n’roll sind dabei vordergründig und auf jeder Seite spürbar – auf eine gute, faszinierende Art.

Ich kann gar nicht genug schwärmen von Daisy Jones & The Six. Dieses Buch ist ein Meisterwerk und ich wünschte, ich könnte es nochmal zum ersten Mal erleben. So habe ich mir direkt zwei weitere Bücher von Taylor Jenkins Reid bestellt: Malibu Rising und The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Ich halte euch auf dem Laufenden!
